Gustav's cape 2, north

The project of Gustav's cape 2, north, is a storage are of 25,000 m2 that will be shafted, terraced and filled and added 2 m superstructure material on top. The surface will be used to short term storage.

The contractor NCC is carrying out the work. The work will be finished in May, and the superstructure material will lay until the fall of 2021.

Construction time: January 2021 - May 2021.

Information construction work 2021

Construction work, week 11

  • Excavation and terracing of the storage area and removal of demolished asphalt was completed in week 10. Cleaning/adjustment and removal of excavation piles will be carried out with an excavator during week 11.
  • Superstructure is completed during the week.
  • Bringing in overload continues for another month.
  • All five levels for settlement measurement are mounted. Balancing of these continues every week for a month to follow up settlements. Thereafter, they are measured once a month for about 6 months, or until you see that subsidence has stopped.

Bringing in overload material.

  • Excavation and terracing jobs will be finished during the week.
  • The bringing in of overload material continues. Approximately half of all the material is brought in.

13 trucks.

Shaft of asphalt area.

  • Excavation / terracing and filling over load material continues as before.
  • Demolition of the existing asphalt area, which was used for the remediation of the Terminal Hillskär project, continues. The frost has gone down into the superstructure and must be beaten with a hydraulic hammer.
  • The bringing in of overload material started during week 7 and will continue throughout the project.

10 trucks.

Ongoing run-in of superstructure material, overturning and removal of the existing asphalt area.

  • Removing the existing asphalt area used for decontamination at the Terminal Hillskär project continues.
  • Settlement measurements began during week 6 and will continue throughout the project.
  • At the end of week 6, suspected sulfide was found. Sampling has been performed and analytical results to determine how the masses will be handled are awaited.
  • Hopefully it is possible to bring in overload material during the week.

Terracing, rolling out geotextile and running in overload material on the southern part of the area.

  • Clearing the area from trees and vegetation.
  • Preparation of the work site with excavation/terracing the connection road and setting up fences.
