Gustav's cape 2, south

The project of Gustav's cape 2 involves the establishment of a new surface for short-term storage of goods in the port - an area of approximately 9,000 m2.

The contractor NCC, which is carrying out the work, will excavate and fill the surface north of the Feed Center. The surface is provided with a gravel wear layer.

Construction time: December 2020 - January 2021.

Information construction work 2021

Construction work, week 4

  • During the previous week removal of shafts, sulphite soil and rocks finished
  • In the shaft a big rock and a concrete sole was found, which had to be removed.
  • This week will focus on bringing in superstructure material.

The weather conditions at the worksite are very tough right now, a lot of snow and wind.

Workforce: 1 worker, 1 supervisor/surveyor, 1 wheel loader, 4 trucks.

Preparation for blasting stone

  • Due to challenging weather conditions last week the shafts are not ready and will continue this week when expected to be completed.
  • Removal and deposition of sulphide soil found in the shafts and deposition of the bark pile.
  • Continued filling superstructure.

Workforce: 1 worker, 1 supervisor/surveyor, 1 excavator, 1 wheel loaders, 4 trucks, 1 dumper.

Construction work, week 2

  • Bringing in superstructure material continues.
  • The test results from the bark piles have arrived and these masses are now being driven to Stöningsberget for disposal. Sampling and information about who can receive the masses has taken time, which in turn has delayed the excavation work by a few days.
  • The shafts, including removal of bark piles, are expected to be completed during the week.

Workforce: 1 worker, 1 supervisor/surveyor, 1 excavator, 1 wheel loaders, 3-4 trucks, 1 dumper.

  • Digging and bringing in superstructure material continues.
  • The test results for the bark pile are awaited.
  • This week, the working group takes Christmas leave, or as they call it "ground leave". The work will start up again on Thursday January 7.

  • Digging and bringing in superstructure material.
  • Test results from the sampling of bark pile is expected in the middle of the week. This will determine where this waste should be deposited / tipped.

Filling work at the Port of Umeå

Establishment is complete and road closures/road signs are placed in the area. Excavation has begun.

  • Start bringing in superstructure material.
  • Sampling of bark piles to be able to determine where this waste should be deposited / tipped.

• Excavation is expected to begin at the end of the week.
